Share Email Opening Title Buyer/Planner 1 (2020-018)  Astronics Subsidiary Astronics AES   Location Kirkland, WA   Description JOB SUMMARY Responsible for timely material planning and procurement of direct and/or indirect spend of materials and services necessary to support company requirements. Solicit bids from existing suppliers and develop potential sources of supply. Evaluate supplier proposed prices. Award purchase orders, within delegated authority, to the selected supplier based on competitive bids. Represent the company in all contacts with the supplier. Monitor supplier quality, schedule, and customer service performance. Resolve actual or potential supplier performance problems. Establish and maintain all records necessary to administer purchase orders. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Analyze and interpret internal direct and indirect spend documents (MRP, requisitions, CARs and similar) to ensure appropriate processing of customer and business requirements. Prepare request for quotations and analyze supplier response. Award purchase orders to competitively qualified suppliers. Capable of working simple to medium complexity procurements and contracts with occasional supervision. Understand and apply basic negotiation techniques. Coordinate with production control/program office or with internal customers when inventory availability commitments are at risk, or when issues arise in the process of executing their orders. Coordinate with quality assurance and the supplier to resolve non-compliant material issues, and to achieve the best combination of quality, cost and service to meet customer and business requirements. Participate in continuous improvement projects and project teams as required. Support the procurement group and members within the group by performing administrative tasks such as purchase order expediting, data entry, PO filing, etc. Perform other duties as assigned. This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience: Associates degree (in related field) or 4 years related industry experience and ISM Certification preferred (if no degree or certification, seeking candidates intending to obtain certification within a year of employment.
