Center Director 



  1. Directly supervise center staff and volunteers.
  2. Serve as a liaison between MET and parents, to include Policy Council and center committees.
  3. Locate and maintain professional relationships with service providers and community partners within project area.
  4. Enforce and apply all agency policies.
  5. Ensure that each child is properly supervised at all times they are in agency care.
  6. With the assistance of administrative and coordinating staff, participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of program plans.
  7. Provide information, guidance, and leadership at staff and committee meetings.
  8. Submit regular written reports on the overall operation of the center, to include completion of monthly Child Adult Care Food Program [CACFP] reports to supervisors.
  9. Review lesson plans submitted by teaching staff and make the appropriate changes. Approve all lesson plans and ensure their proper implementation.
  10. Monitor teaching staff performance and evaluate progress toward program objectives.
  11. Develop and implement time management system in accordance with all agency policies to ensure that lesson plans and other staff assignments are completed during regular work hours.
  12. As directed by supervisors, attend conferences, workshops, and meetings in order to promote the progress of the Head Start program.
  13. Perform various center duties as necessary. This includes filling in for staff shortages that are a result to absences or other factors.
  14. Supervise center transportation component, including making recommendations on reasonable route changes as they become necessary.
  15. Assure the safety, proper maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the Head Start facility.
  16. Assist in the recruitment of eligible children and their families.
  17. Follow all guidelines and policies related to safety.
  18. Develop, direct, and evaluate staff; review and make recommendations on personnel actions, including training, disciplinary action, promotion, and other assignments.
  19. Maintain accurate inventory of center supplies.
  20. Report to work at scheduled time and maintain good attendance. Perform all duties in a safe, timely, and professional manner. Participate with a positive attitude and behavior in all program activities.
  21. Maintain confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.
  22. Assist in meeting agency non-federal share matching requirement.
Position Requirements
  1. Employee will possess an associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Science, Public Administration or a related field from a college or university. Must have CDL or be able to obtain CDL within first 30 days of employment. Must obtain Center Director Credential as a condition of employment.
  2. Must pass criminal background check and is subject to the agency’s drug and alcohol testing program.
  3. Negative Tuberculosis Screen, First Aid certification, CPR certification with emphasis on children and toddlers.
  4. Extensive travel required in the area; must be able to travel outside project area as assigned.
  5. May come into contact with childhood diseases and blood on occasion.
  6. Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record, as approved by the agency’s vehicle insurance carrier.
  7. Employee must have an account with a financial institution that can process financial transactions through MET’s electronic payroll system.
  8. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer functions.
