What are we looking for in a Substance Use Disorder Professional?

This Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) position splits time evenly between outpatient treatment in our Goldendale office and supporting the medication-assisted treatment program at Klickitat Valley Healthcare. In the KVH portion of this position, the SUD Professional will work to improve client retention & success rates by coordinating services, engaging clients in treatment, and helping to address barriers to continued treatment. In the Comprehensive portion of this position, the SUDP will work with clients on our outpatient substance use disorder treatment team in Goldendale, as well as providing occasional SUD telehealth to our White Salmon office as needed. For this role, a broad understanding of substance use disorders—both opioid use disorders and other addictions—is necessary. This position requires a SUDP that is able to establish rapport quickly, motivate others, and keep a positive attitude in the midst of challenges. Regular travel between Comprehensive and KVH clinics is expected.

Substance Use Disorder Professional duties may include:

  • completing substance use assessments
  • utilizing motivational interviewing to assist clients in the recovery process
  • offering case management services to address treatment barriers such as transportation, childcare, housing, financial, and other challenges
  • providing supportive counseling to clients and their families
  • facilitating behavioral health treatment and educational groups
  • assessing clients for safety and risk to self or others, and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
  • supporting new clients in early recovery and engaging clients to maintain active participation in treatment & improve client retention
  • providing progress reports and completion notices to the courts, probation departments, and referral sources as appropriate
  • completing all documentation in a respectful, client-centered manner
 
Position Requirements

Professional Credentials: Substance Use Professional or Trainee certification in Washington State

Other Requirements: Driver's License, Vehicle Liability Insurance
