Description

SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing and leading complex technical and testing support to engineering and the engineering lab. Supports new product development and product improvements by means of but not limited to the following: sheet metal fabrication, assembly, wiring, testing & documentation, troubleshooting, mechanical assembly, of prototypes across the HDT family of business units and products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports engineers with multiple model shop projects including layouts, assembly, electrical wiring, system cleanup and detailing, subsystem construction, testing and documentation
  • Sets up and operates specialized test equipment, computers and related equipment to perform manual and automated environmental tests
  • Acquires and/or designs and builds equipment as needed
  • Assembles and maintains standard operating procedures, including safety procedures and equipment
  • Assists in experimental design and set-up
  • Sets up and conducts tests
  • Records these test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test methods
  • Collects and processes data for analysis of test results related to the design and test objectives and adjusts equipment to bring within specifications
  • Develops documentation of processes and experiments
  • Assists in report compilation
  • Provides hands-on feedback to engineers
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Associate's degree in electronics/mechanical technology preferred, certification in HVAC with refrigeration is desired

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Experience in electro-mechanical engineering involving prototype assembly, product component testing, building test fixtures and report writing, ability to read and interpret engineering documentation including basic schematics and block diagrams, must possess trouble-shooting skills to the component level using basic test equipment.

  • Competent technical expertise, comfortable with the shop/laboratory and equipment
  • Possesses quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees and managers at all levels within the company
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Able to work independently
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, willing to work overtime when necessary
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English
