Share Email Opening Title Software Engineer I  Description The Software Engineer I will work building and maintaining back end code of Ascentis SaaS solutions as part of an agile engineering team. It's expected this individual will be passionate about applying the right technology solutions to solve tough backend development challenges efficiently and elegantly. It's equally expected he or she will be savvy and knowledgeable of the current state of the art on front end development and apply that knowledge to Ascentis products. He/she will be ruthless about creating software productively that is both performing and scalable. Cultural Norms: What are the general responsibilities of the position? * Coach and assist less experienced developers in all aspects of software development * Develop new back-end and services and extend-and-improve existing functionality * Create elegant, reusable, high quality, efficient and scalable code * Investigate latest trends in the market and collaborate with decision makers on defining future direction of software development within Ascentis * Utilize modern coding techniques such as TDD, BDD, etc. to keep code clean and easily maintainable * Effectively learn new programming languages, frameworks, libraries as required and be an agent of change and progress within   Position Requirements What are we looking for in a candidate? * High level of spoken and written English language * Strong experience in .NET. (Required) Java & Cobol (Nice to have) * Strong experience with Object Oriented design and development * Experience with LINQ, Interop, and Reflection * Experience with MVC, WEB API, Razor * Strong experience with Object Oriented design and development * Strong experience applying TDD and/or BDD * Experience with Multithreading and async programming * Experience with Microservices, REST or SOA architectures * Experience with Message Queues/Buses (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.) * Proficient using code versioning tools such as Git and Stash * Leadership skills * Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment * Self-starter and ability to think outside the box * Strong ability to learn from existing legacy code, derive essential functionality and translate to new model and design as required * Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment maintain a positive and supportive attitude within the team   Location Uruguay   About the Organization The Ascentis mission is to create innovative products that are easy to use for the often under-served mid-market that cover the full Human Capital Management (HCM) suite.
