The Director of Nursing provides clinical nursing leadership and oversight for the long-term care, assisted living and sub-acute rehabilitation neighborhoods. The Director of Nursing plans, organizes, directs and facilitates the clinical operations of all neighborhoods to ensure regulatory compliance while nurturing a culture of person-centered and resident directed care. Additionally, the Director of Nursing promotes individual and team learning.


  • Participates fully in the Health Services Team, providing clinical leadership and supportive functions to Health Services colleagues, and contributing to the regulatory and fiscal viability of Lakeview Village
  • Ensures that the day-to-day clinical functions of the licensed areas are met in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times.
  • Offers expertise and guidance as needed and requested, to all nursing management and the staff working in the neighborhoods.
  • Maintains cooperative relationships with regulatory officials, media representatives and local organizations
  • Keeps abreast of current state and federal regulations, as well as professional standards and makes recommendations for incorporation into policy and procedure
  • Assures that resident rights and responsibilities are honored and met, including the right to refuse or individualize treatment, and monitors the community and neighborhood response to resident concerns through continuous quality improvement
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates a sufficient number of well-qualified staff to assure that resident care needs can be consistently met 24-hours each day 7 days a week.
  • Is responsible for coaching and assuring that the entire team meets Lakeview Standards following the Human Resource Polices and Employee Handbook
  • Assists with conducting orientation, training sessions, and meetings, as necessary, to meet the resident’s needs. Responsible for the monthly nursing meetings and assist with coordination of the yearly educational requirements according to federal/state regulations
  • Makes rounds and observes the care being provided to assure that all staff is providing care in conformance to applicable regulations and Lakeview’s standards.
  • Is responsible for providing oversight of the fall prevention, skin prevention, anti-coagulant and wound care protocols, and the Restorative Nursing Program at Lakeview.
  • Is responsible for rotating on-call and organizing the nursing on call schedule for the licensed areas.
  • Is responsible for the survey process working closely with the Director of Clinical Operations
  • Follow up on family concerns and grievances
  • Assist with other clinical areas such as physician clinic and home health when Director of Clinical Services is off as requested
  • Assist with credentialing of the medical staff and training to facilities protocols
  • Review and update the standing orders yearly with the medical director and Director of Clinical Operations
  • Follow up with staff concerns and issues addressing them in a timely manner
  • Walking rounds in all areas to assure that the facility remains in state compliance

Position Requirements
  • Clinical Skills: Clinical skills sufficient to meet all the primary responsibilities identified above; meets state licensing and all other appropriate regulations for position, as well as organization’s expectations of position clinically (direct nursing, teaching, supervision, organizational oversight).

  • Community and Team Builder: Identifies with and participates in a neighborhood as a member. Works to develop personal familiarity with individual residents, family and staff. Seeks to under gird effective team dynamics within neighborhoods and leadership teams.
  • Conflict Facilitation: Works to nurture healthy conflict resolution practices throughout all nursing staff and defers conflict resolution within neighborhoods whenever possible. Coaches and supports others to provide mediation when it is needed, and explores this possibility before assuming mediation role. Demonstrates strong ability to mediate conflicts when it is determined necessary.
  • Dementia Sensitivity: Demonstrates highest levels of understanding of and commitment to philosophies and practices of caring for persons with dementia in a manner that is person-centered and supports their well-being. Sets highest standards for nursing staff with regards to dementia care.
  • Three to five years on the job experience as nursing leader in skilled health care facility, acute hospital or rehabilitation experience is required.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership qualities, supervisory skills interpersonal relationship skills, and knowledge of federal and state regulations governing clinical care, nursing practice and management
  • Commitment to person-centered and resident-directed care is essential.
  • Understanding and commitment to incorporating Whole-Person Wellness and Resident-Directed Care into all aspects of Lakeview Village and Health Services.
  • Position requires the individual to stand, walk, or move about the facility during 75% of the workday.
  • May lift or assist in transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Exposed to chemicals, odors, and body substances on a routine basis.
  • May be exposed to stress or hostile or combative residents

Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Shift Monday-Friday,8:00am-5:00pm,on-call rotation for weekends and holidays.
