At HOPES, our Coder/Biller is responsible for ensuring that revenue is maximized for the agency through efficient and timely processing of third party claims. The Biller/Coder engages in reporting and reconciling of lab payments. Our Biller/Coder also reviews encounters for errors in coding or missing documentation and engages with providers to assist in education to promote error free coding and appropriate supporting documentation. This position is heavy on the billling and coding is a plus!

  • We are a certified Patient-Centered Medical Home, recognized by the National Commission on Quality Assurance
  • We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). The mission of all FQHCs is to provide excellent health care services to otherwise under-served populations. We accept most insurance plans, Medicaid, Medicare, and the uninsured. For the uninsured, we offer discounted services based on a sliding fee scale.
  • We are a National Health Service Corp site, and our providers are eligible to apply toward a federal loan forgiveness program

Position Requirements

We are looking for:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • 1 year previous experience in electronic medical billing required.
  • Working knowledge of billing rules specific to assigned third party payers required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form required.
  • Coder Certification through the American Academy of Professional Coders preferred.
  • General knowledge of billing practices for a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
