Job Summary: This position is responsible for improving the efficiency of the Axe department by ensuring machine operators, assemblers and machinist have the supplies they need, complete machined part finishing processes, perform basic machine maintenance and keep the machine shop and Axe division organized. Duties/Responsibilities: Complete processes to finish machined parts including but not limited to tumbling parts, sand blasting parts, cleaning parts and other kinds of post-op work. Inspect raw materials, parts in process and finished parts to ensure quality specifications are met. Ensure necessary inventory of raw materials and parts are maintained by verifying part counts and utilizing other inventory control principles. Suggest ideas for organizing the Machine Shop. Keep the Machine Shop organized and help with daily housekeeping. Make suggestions to improve processes. Participate in projects to identify process improvements. Assist in the implementation of improvements. Operate machines if needed. Perform basic light machine maintenance. Follow company policies and procedures related to inventory, production and safety. Responsible for setup for assembly for the following day’s work. Educations and Experience: Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalence Applicant must pass a 5-panel drug screen prior to hire Preferred Qualifications: Experience in manufacturing, distribution, industrial or related background Competencies and Skills: Good hand-eye coordination Ability to work independently as well as with a team Mechanically inclined Cognitive Ability: Basic Math (Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) Reading comprehension and writing skills Communication skills Physical Demands: Sit and stand for 8-12 hours while working Utilize fine motor skills with repetitive movement of arms, wrists, hands and fingers Wear safety glasses 8+ hours per shift |
