We are the contractor of choice for security alarm system services with several area home builders and are actively expanding this segment of our business. The Lead Technician, Residential Security Systems will have broad responsibility to install, activate, and service residential security alarm systems. In addition, you will audit established accounts and sell new contracts for monitoring services.

Responsibilities
  • Install, test, and inspect a variety of home security and fire alarm systems to prescribed standards
  • Perform daily service calls; enter, update, and close out service tickets while providing a high level of customer service
  • Provide on-call and on-site emergency troubleshooting and repairs of security system equipment
  • Manage all existing security accounts and active projects, including auditing monitored accounts to ensure accuracy for maximum profitability
  • Plan, order, and track inventory for all security projects and back stock for potential services and quick sales
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inventory of products and equipment; maintain appropriate inventory levels in warehouse and on van
  • Advise management on plans to develop new business for increased recurring revenue

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven experience designing electronic security system specifications, developing proposals, and closing sales for residential security alarm systems
  • Strong ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Experience completing all phases of a residential security system project and ongoing management of monitored accounts
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with clients in a professional manner in person, over the phone, and via e-mail
  • Strong knowledge of RF interference issues and how to resolve them
  • Experience monitoring security accounts for service issues and resolution
  • Excellent written communication including spelling, grammar, and the ability to type
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and time management skills
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Experience maintaining a clean and safe work environment in office and at client locations
 

Minimum Requirements
  • Five years field experience with direct end user interaction in the residential security industry, including experience as an on-call technician
  • Two years sales or account management experience
  • Valid Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) registration or ability to obtain registration
  • Advanced troubleshooting experience, ability to resolve issues and make recommendations for products to better-meet the need of the client or company
  • Experience interacting with central station for account entry and audits to clean up and ensure maximum profitability
  • Experience maintaining well-organized project notes in an electronic record keeping system
  • Schedule availability for on-call and on-site emergency support, including nights and weekends
  • Experience with GE/Interlogix security systems: Simon, Concord4, ZeroWire/UltraSync
  • Excellent driving record
 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Eight years progressive experience designing, selling, and servicing electronic residential security systems
  • Professional certification related to the residential security system industry
  • Working knowledge of Aiphone and DoorKing Door Access, and Continental access control
