Position Summary:

The Personal Support Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of his/her assigned case load within the Personal Support (PS) Services and Individual Support Services (ISS) department within Harford and Cecil Counties, the supervision of the staff providing direct supports to the individuals within those areas and the coordination of all services and aspects of the individuals' lives on their caseload.

Position Responsibilities:

In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Personal Support Supervisor do the following:

Quality Supports:

  • Ensures individuals served live the life they want the way they want as outlined in our philosophy.
  • Develops a relationship with the individuals served that is respectful, based on mutual trust and that maintains professional boundaries.
  • Takes responsibility for safety hazards in all areas including but is not limited to programs, residences and vehicles.
  • Ensures that the individual's plan is carried out as outlined in the written plan, programs, schedules and other documentation.
  • Provides advocacy for individuals served based on their personal choices.
  • Ensures that each individual served becomes involved in their community utilizing staff and natural supports according to personal choices.
  • Ensures all individuals served are living according to their rights and responsibilities and are free from abuse and neglect.
  • Provides flexibility when needed to transfer to another program/residence or in providing direct support to individuals as necessary.
  • Participates in the planning meeting , and implements the Arc's responsibility for the individual plan for ISS/PS supports.
  • Coordinates all services the person is receiving and advocates internally and externally for the supports needed.
  • Develops an active Circle of Support around the individual and maintains communication and positive working relationships with the people who are involved in the lives of people supported, including people associated and not associated with the agency, professionals, friends and family members.
  • Advocates and provides options for supports and services as needed and seeks out and develops community resources to meet the needs of assigned clients for activities and support services.

Quality Team Members:

  • Provides mentoring for staff in all areas of service delivery, including but not limited to, communication, documentation, networking and supports.
  • Assures staff members are meeting agency, state and federal regulations for required in-service training and certifications.
  • Works effectively and cooperatively with the Human Resources department to ensure agency personnel policies and procedures are followed and takes necessary disciplinary action to ensure staff members are held accountable to those policies.
  • Interviews and provides recommendations for the hiring of new direct support staff.
  • Schedules direct support staff to ensure adequate supports are maintained and tracks individual support hours so all individuals are receiving their funded supports.
  • Provides monthly supervision and annual evaluation of direct support staff performance.
  • Facilitates team meetings and family conferences to problem solve and develop plans of action as needed.

Financial Excellence:

  • Completes, maintains and submits required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Works effectively and cooperatively with the Finance Department to ensure agency policies and procedures are followed related to .mileage, expense reimbursement and the provision of supports identified in each individual's service funding plan.
  • Schedules direct support staff to ensure adequate supports are maintained and tracks individual support hours so all individuals are receiving their funded supports.

Other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

Education, Training and Experience:

  • One to two (1-2) years of experience in the human services field; Personal Support preferred.
  • At least two (2) peer training experience in a Personal Support environment.
  • High School Diploma required; Associates (AA) or Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree’s preferred.
  • AA may substitute for two years of human services experience; BA/BS may substitute for 4 human services years of experience.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
