Junior Accountant

We are an extremely fast-growing Consumer Product Goods company, and are looking for a hardworking, motivated person to add to our accounting/finance team. Ideally this is a stepping stone position into greater responsibility within the team.

We are looking for a Junior Accountant who is an intelligent, motivated, detail-oriented candidate to handle a variety of accounting roles, including but not limited to ownership of the accounts payable process, including invoice processing, vendor relations, and check run management. The role has the potential to develop into additional responsibilities with the accounting team. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, organized, and self-motivated, with a desire to improve current processes and procedures. The position reports to the Assistant Controller, will work closely with the Staff Accountant in training program, and will provide regular reporting to the Controller and CFO.

  • Understand general ledger accounts and manage account classification of invoices
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure invoices are approved and processed timely
  • Process credit memos as they are received
  • Manage weekly check runs to ensure timely release of payments and vendor relations are appropriately monitored
  • Prepare manual checks when required
  • Collaborate with vendors and employees to resolve discrepancies and problem solve on other open items
  • Maintain updated vendor files for new and existing vendors
  • Reconcile vendor statements
  • Manage the accounting email and respond to vendor inquiries
  • Complete credit applications to establish terms with new vendors
  • Manage the employee credit card program
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in various accounting projects as necessary

Education and experience

  • Entry-level (1-2 years’ relevant experience preferred)
  • Accounting degree or similar
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of ERP (NetSuite a plus)
