Share Email Opening Title Sr. Systems Administrator & Cloud Engineer - Enterprise Services  Category Information Technology   Description Systems & Technology Research (STR) is currently seeking a Senior Systems Administrator and Cloud Engineer to support the STR Enterprise Infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in all aspects of IT infrastructure in support of STR’s enterprise across all locations. Strong working knowledge of the design, implementation, upgrades and operation of all of STR’s infrastructure with particular strengths in Systems, Networks, Cloud Computing and Project Management. STR is a privately-owned, rapidly growing business focused on research and development for the defense and intelligence communities. Responsibilities: As a subject matter expert and member of a core team to build a Cloud Governance program Design, deploy and support dynamically scalable, available, fault-tolerant, secure, and reliable applications in the Cloud; Engineer networking infrastructure in support of cloud applications; Help select appropriate Cloud services based on requirements; Migrate complex, multi-tier applications on Cloud Platforms Estimate usage costs and identify operational cost control mechanisms to meet project needs and budget alignment Lead, manage, and execute projects across the enterprise infrastructure with accountability for the project outcome through sound project management skills Team member supporting Data Center/Server Room and Cloud operations: System provisioning, monitoring/alerting, network configuration, administration of Linux, Windows, VMWare/vSphere and Cloud computing; Ensure high availability of all critical applications while meeting or exceeding Service Level Agreements (SLA); Troubleshoot complex interactions in storage, servers, networks and databases in collaboration with other systems administrators and technical teams Disaster Recovery planning, implementation and operations of all STR business systems: propose service levels, data types, recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO) that align with a business impact analysis outcome to meet company objectives Understand the security requirements to properly manage the infrastructure and the associated data and access controls Document all infrastructure, processes and procedures Conduct internal reviews of infrastructure components and recommendations for improvements   Position Requirements Basic Qualifications: Work experience as a Linux and/or Windows Administrator and Cloud Engineering Strong working knowledge of IT infrastructure Good knowledge of at least one scripting language and automation Good problem-solving and communication skills Strong project management skills Ability to mentor more junior members Strong team and collaborative mindset 10+ years of progressive technical (hands-on) experience related to cloud systems development, implementation and administration Bachelor's Degree or better in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related technical field preferred or equivalent experience Experience with performing patch updates and vulnerability remediation of storage and backup environments Desired Qualifications: AWS Solutions Architect certification and relevant work experience Work experience designing, deploying and supporting local area and wide area networks Knowledge of system security techniques Experience with network and system security administration, including operating system security configuration and account management best practices for Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat), Window Server, Windows clients, Microsoft Exchange, and CISCO systems DoDI 8570.01-M IAT/IAM Level-II Compliant Certification (such as Security+ or CISSP) a plus Self-starter requiring limited direction and supervision Ability to organize and prioritize numerous customer requests in a fast paced, deadline driven environment Willing to travel occasionally to other office locations STR seeks to provide an outstanding work environment for its employees with excellent benefits and competitive compensation.
