Description

The Mobile Communications and Networking Research department at NEC Labs America (NECLA) has multiple intern positions available for graduate students during summer 2020. We have an active research program with focus on wireless communications, sensing and networking. During this summer, we aim to continue our current activity as well as create seeds for new directions.

We are looking for summer interns in the following areas:
a) mmWave Networks: Designing and implementing new beam-selection algorithms and codebook designs in mmWave base-stations on a test-bed deployed within NECLA campus and evaluating their performance.
b) Autonomous Systems: (i) Autonomous, context-aware aerial scanning and real-time 3D reconstruction and scene understanding using UAVs, (ii) Autonomous command and control of AGVs (autonomous ground vehicles) and SDVs (self-driving vehicles) within domains that deploy local 5G networks.
c) IoT Solutions: (i) Building innovative low-power IoT systems for consumer and industrial applications, (ii) Real-time tracking solutions for multi-player AR/VR systems.

 
Position Requirements

We are seeking candidates with experience in building embedded systems, low-power RF design, robot/drone navigation systems (ROS), AR/VR systems, beamforming and code-book design, and in general extensive hands-on systems building experience, as appropriate for the areas outlined above.
