General Summary

Astronics Test Systems is looking for an Entry-Level Electrical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Design Center of Excellence in Orlando, FL. The candidate must be a self-starter with an eagerness to learn and a solid understanding of the fundamentals of electronics.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the total end-to-end process of capturing requirements, designing, developing, validating, testing, documenting, and transition to manufacturing of electrical and electronics systems and subsystems.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional product development team to effectively plan and execute electrical PCB designs to meet critical project requirements and deadlines.
  • Perform schematic capture and direct or participate in PCB layout.
  • Work alongside senior-level engineers to help define and document characterization and calibration methodologies, Validation and Verification (V&V) plans, and lead the V&V process for individual designs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams across the globe to support new product development and sustainment activities.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

  1. Experience and understanding in the application of principles, theories, concepts, practices, and standards relating to analog and digital circuit design.
  2. Familiarity with basic communication interfaces, such as USB, SPI, and I2C.
  3. Strong analytical reasoning and problem solving skills with knowledge in performing root cause analysis and recommending corrective action to resolve test failures.
  4. Experienced with the use of lab equipment, such as DMMs, DSOs, AFGs, and network analyzers.
  5. Familiarity with programming languages, such as C and C++.
  6. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Enthusiastic self-started with eagerness to learn.
  7. Ability to act as an engineering lead for one or multiple concurrent projects involving cross-functional teams in multiple geographic locations.
  8. Must be a US person.

Education/Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (BSEE) or related field is required

Computer Skills:

  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  2. Experience with simulation tools, such as LTSpice or PSpice.
  3. Some basic experience with software and firmware development languages, such as C, C++, C#, VHDL, MATLAB, or LabVIEW
  4. Experience with schematic capture and layout tools is a plus.
