Summary:

This internship is with Panavision Light Iron in Hollywood, CA, but is part of the Academy Gold Program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members. The Internship Program consists of the application of applied majors towards the film and motion picture industry. Interns will learn the technical and creative aspects of the DI process for feature films, television, and interactive media. Interns will receive hands-on experience of how the film industries operations departments function, getting a rare chance to assist and build general knowledge of providing customer service to the industry’s leading productions.

 
Position Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Vault – Introduction on how to handle, ship, deliver and receive assets.
  • Machine Room – Introduction to assisting operators in managing assets of DI and deliverables for distribution internally and externally.
  • Data – Assisting in verifying, resorting, and archiving media.
  • Client Services – Assisting in maintaining facility operations and picking up/presenting lunches to clients.
  • Color – Opportunity to sit in on unsupervised color sessions with DI artists.

Qualifications:

  • Current student taking courses in Film / Cinema programs.
  • Ability to work well with Film Industry affiliates.
  • Willingness to learn, goal-oriented, persistent.
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with both internal and external customers.
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities where necessary.
  • Ability to remain flexible towards changes in schedule.
  • Ability to work on own initiative without constant supervision.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This job operates in a professional office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the intern is regularly required to talk and hear. The Intern frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The Intern may also be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. The Intern will need a reliable car for occasional runs.

This position normally works 13 - 20 hours per week. Hours to be completed based on the Intern’s availability and/or school schedule as well as facility availability.
