Description

VSolvit, LLC is looking for a Junior Systems Administrator/Network Technician for onsite support at NSWC Corona. The Junior System Administrator/Network Technician (JSA/NT) will be responsible for assigned duties with the provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of server systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation and improving operational efficiency. The JSA/NT will work with multiple Microsoft based domain environments and a Cisco based Unified Communications Manager VoIP network. The candidate will also be managing and maintaining multiple VMware ESXi Hypervisor environments. The JSA/NT will be accountable for Windows server and desktop systems, McAfee Host Based Security System servers, Cisco Unified Communications Manager servers and VOIP phone equipment, and VMware ESXi Hypervisor servers.

Responsibilities

Engineering and Provisioning

  • Assist in the engineering Sys Admin-related solutions
  • Install new and/or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

Operations and Support

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system, security and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery disks are created
  • Perform regular file server archival and purge as necessary
  • Perform off-site support during Navy Combat Systems test events
  • Provide Tier II/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

Maintenance

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
  • Upgrade and configure system software
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required

 
Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • DoD Secret Clearance required
  • Certifications: CompTIA Sec+
  • Training or certification on Windows 10 and/or Windows Server 2012/2016/2019
  • 3+ years of Windows Server Systems Administration experience
    • 3+ years’ experience managing Windows Server Active Directory
    • 3+ years’ of basic networking like DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, IP addresses, Active Directory, Group Policy and User Profiles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology Field
  • MCSA Windows Server 2012+, Cisco CCENT/CCNA, CompTIA Network +, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server
  • 5+ years’ experience with McAfee Host Based Security Systems (HBSS)
  • 5+ years’ experience with DoD Cyber Security (CS) policies and tools
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills and be capable of explaining simple procedures in writing or verbally

Additional

  • Must be able to accommodate 15 - 25% travel
  • Active DoD secret clearance required or ability to have one held within the last 24 months reactivated
