About the Organization Red Oak Recovery, a CARF accredited program, is a premier clinically-driven therapy program for young adults and adolescents. We are here to serve clients, families, and other stakeholders through a very difficult time. Our team provides gender-specific treatment for young adults ages 18-30, and adolescent males 14-17 struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues. Our licensed and experienced staff provide the most clinically sophisticated and integrative substance abuse and mental health treatment available.



As a small clinically-driven program we have the ability to meet each client where they are mentally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally to design a treatment experience that is unique to them.

Description

Foothills at Red Oak Recovery® serves 14-17 year old male adolescents and their families. Our program is located on a 94-acre working horse farm in Ellenboro, NC to help promote growth, reflection, and healing for those experiencing the results of trauma. Our licensed clinical team and extensive range of therapies provides the support and education young teens need to put themselves back on the right path. We are always looking for qualified and motivated individuals who are passionate about helping adolescents through their recovery process, to join our Red Oak Recovery® team.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • All overnight staff must remain awake and alert at all times
  • Check in with shift supervisor and lead guide upon arrival
  • Support guide team and clients until guides go to bed
  • Act as primary support for clients during overnight hours
  • Remain on separate levels of the house (one staff member on main level and one staff member on upper level) unless responding to a client situation requiring rule of three
  • Provide the highest level of physical and emotional safety to our clients
  • Work as part of a treatment team in order to provide clients with the highest level of clinical care
  • Implement coping strategies and emotional regulation skills to our clients throughout the night
  • Provide behavior management and crisis intervention to clients as situations arise
  • Monitor our adolescent client’s safety in accordance with program procedures and roles
  • Report information about any client movement via email to team and in person to guides before leaving shift
  • Conduct visual checks (seeing hair or skin) of clients every 15 minutes to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our clients
  • Develop a positive rapport with our clients, staff and local emergency services
  • Maintain written and/or electronic client records in accordance with Carf & State Regulations as needed and requested by supervisor
  • Regularly attend trainings as required
  • Carry out necessary protocol for level watches throughout the night

  • 1 hour from Asheville, NC
  • 45 minutes from Hendersonville, NC
  • 1 hour from Charlotte, NC
  • 20 minutes from Shelby, NC
  • 45 minutes from Spartanburg, SC
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • 21 years of age
  • Minimum HS diploma (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with people in a mental health, healthcare, human services professional capacity

Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Experience working with adolescents in substance abuse/mental health setting
  • Experience in outdoor/adventure therapy
  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills preferred
  • Personal or professional recovery/mental health/healthcare experience preferred
