Job Title: Stock Room Clerk

Department: Shipping/Receiving/ Stock

Reports to: Production Manager

Salary Grade: Associate 1-4

AAP Classification: Administrative Support Workers

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

Verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Compiles and maintains records of quantity, cost, and type of material received, stocked, and issued, and prepares material requisitions by performing the following duties.

Essential duties and responsibilities

This job description does not imply that these are the only duties performed. Employees occupying this position will be required to follow any other related instructions and to perform any other job related duties requested by their supervisor. Furthermore, this does not establish a contract for employment and is subject to change at the discretion of the employer.

Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of laden, invoices, or other records to verify accuracy of order.

Determines method of shipment.

Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.

Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.

Inserts items into containers.

Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.

Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.

Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.

Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

Routes items to departments.

Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

Complies and maintains inventory of material received, stocked, and issued.

Prepares requests for procurement of materials.

Inspects, accepts or rejects material received.

Marks identifying information on material.

Packages outgoing product according to customer portals (internet based) and specifications.

Operates tier lift truck or uses handtruck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED

1-3 years manufacturing experience preferred

Computer skills preferred

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Due to federal contract obligations, must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Does not have any supervisory responsibilities but may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions within the organization.

Language Skills

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos. Must have ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Possess the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands *

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and or arms to pull handles and push buttons and reach objects. Requirements may also include climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
