Driver Manager 2 

Description

PURPOSE.

This position is responsible for managing a fleet of drivers to meet or exceed all required metrics, maximize revenue and minimize costs, and meet or exceed the customer's service needs.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES.

Enter accurate PTA information for each dispatch.

Lead assigned drivers to complete adherence to Hours of Service guidelines and safety compliance.

Plan effectively so that driver arrives home within 24 hours of requested time off.

Service all freight on your board in a timely manner.

Document all driver related failures and add to driver profile.

Verbally dispatch all loads that require such action.

Manage non-revenue miles.

Execute all relays due to lack of proper information or management.

Check daily fleet summary, fleet metrics, and fleet scan report to ensure operational effectiveness.

Maintain a fleet count of 40-55 drivers

Ensure regular communication with all drivers to enhance performance and retention.

Maintain excellent phone etiquette with all drivers and office personnel.

Develop and follow a 'process' for managing all functions of the Driver Manager.

Ability to meet deadlines and deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.

Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results.

Ability to coach drivers on key areas of needed improvement.

Able to promote a culture of trust and safety.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of 2 years in fleet operations or operations management role or relevant experience.

General skills in Microsoft Office, multiline phone system, DOT regulations and continuing education in regulatory and compliance.

PREFERRED SKILLS.

Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.

Ability to exercise independent decision-making skills.

Ability to build effective relationships (to help produce the right results).

Ability to effectively plan to meet deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
