We are now hiring for our next cohort, scheduled to start in August 2024. We will provide training for the national credential, Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).

Our cutting edge campus features a full diagnostic and therapeutic clinic and a non-public school, serving preschool through high school. Our campus includes a 26,000 square foot clinic building with additional ABA therapy space, vocational training spaces, community skills labs (mock doctor, dentist, barber, shopping), and a mini-apartment for independent living skills practice!

Job Summary:

Provides 1:1 and/or group teaching or ABA therapy for autistic children and teens, attends meetings and provides input into the client’s clinical/educational plan, plans and prepares for instruction, and provides required documentation for service delivery.  Position is required to participate in subbing and provide campus-wide support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures child’s physical safety
  2. Provides 1:1 or group teaching for children with autism spectrum disorder
  3. Group instructors may have additional responsibilities including:
  4. Conducts assessments (PICS, SPA, VB-MAPP, ABLLSR, AFLS)
  5. Identifies IEP goals from a variety of sources
  6. Generates data collection systems in Central Reach
  7. Generates progress reports in Central Reach
  8. Conducts caregiver meetings
  9. Coordinates with inter-disciplinary team members (ABA, OT, SLP, SOAR)
  10. Coordinates with partner/local school systems
  11. Provides support for clients who may engage in aggressive, destructive, self-injurious, unsanitary, and or verbally inappropriate behavior
  12. Uses curricula and teaching methodologies/strategies as outlined by supervisors to teach a variety of skill types such as play, communication, self-help and academic
  13. Demonstrates a minimum level of competency when providing instruction as evidenced by a score of 80% or higher on all fidelity checklists within 6 months of employment
  14. Assists Tier 2 and Tier 3 Instructors with the development of lesson plans
  15. Incorporates technology into instruction
  16. Recognizes issues/questions to bring to Tier 2, Tier 3, Assistant Program Supervisor or Program Supervisor’s attention
  17. Collects data during teaching and completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with insurance requirements
  18. Helps with preparation and organization of teaching materials/supplies for client programs
  19. Communicates client programming updates needed in Central Reach to Tier 2 instructors (e.g. mastered program targets)
  20. Provides support to colleagues by responding to requests for assistance with client behavior support, clean-up, preparing or retrieving materials, or providing short breaks
  21. Acts as a substitute RBT/Teacher when coverage is needed for clients
  22. Supervises classroom interns and volunteers
  23. Works with individuals with diverse needs/backgrounds (e.g. age/disability, ethnicity, gender expression/identity, immigration status, marital/relationship status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status and obtains any needed training in these areas in order to remain culturally responsive in their service provision.
  24. Attends and contribute to team meetings/debriefings/workshops
  25. Attends annual required abuse risk management training; adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising clients; report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations; and follow mandated abuse reporting requirements
  26. Attends and/or complete all assigned employee trainings
  27. May serve as school shadow and travel to child’s school or peer group
  28. May travel to child’s home as itinerant teacher
  29. May provide in-home 1:1 ABA therapy and telehealth services
  30. May provide distance learning for school and preschool programs
  31. Participates in regular communication with client families
  32. Must comply with all ABC of NC policies and procedures
  33. Promotes positive company morale

Position Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to observe and move with children in their natural environments (e.g. home, school, outside, and/or in community)
  • Must be able to sit on floor, on ground, and move easily in this capacity
  • Must be able to utilize approved non-violent crisis intervention techniques with clients of all ages
  • Must be able to lift small children
  • Must be able to teach and assist with toileting skills
  • Must be able to perform the following gross motor activities:
  • Walking (e.g. with a child around campus)
  • Climbing (e.g. stairs, playground equipment, etc.)
  • Bending over (e.g. to assist child)
  • Squatting (e.g. to assist child putting on shoes)
  • Running (e.g. running through a sprinkler with a child)
  • Running (e.g. being able to keep a running child safe)
  • Carrying (e.g. teaching materials, toys, art supplies, etc.)

Must be able to perform the following fine motor activities:

  • Manipulation of teaching materials
  • Assisting in children’s art projects (e.g. cutting, gluing, etc.)
  • Using tablets and/or computers, keyboard
  • Writing data
  • Must be able to speak and hear
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills):

  • High school degree required; college degree preferred
  • Bilingual preferred - ideally, the ability to understand and to make oneself understood to all Spanish speaking individuals
  • Registered Behavior Technician credential or NC teaching license preferred
  • Computer skills including strong Word skills and basic Excel skills, including graphing
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and healthcare registry check
  • Ability to pass all drug screenings during time of employment
