Clinical Pharmacogenomic Specialist 

Description

The candidate will serve as a clinical pharmacogenomics expert reviewing and evaluating medical literature to critically analyze pharmacogenetic data, to develop and disseminate the implementation of the TRHC pharmacogenomics program. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of genetics, pharmacogenomics, clinical pharmacology, drug metabolism, drug transporters, and related pharmacokinetics principles. This person will work in collaboration with other research and clinical scientists in the Precision Pharmacotherapy Research & Development institute for the integration of generated information and of knowledge into the overall program strategies, to improve the efficiency of the TRHC's clinical decision support system (CDSS). The candidate will have to provide dosing guidelines and drug-gene monograph, to research clinical utility of gene variants to modify TRHC's CDSS and to serve as support to interpret and clarify clinical pharmacogenetic test results. This individual will also work in close collaboration with TRHC's academy to provide advanced training and review educational programs related to the TRHC's CDSS. TRHC Scientific Precision Pharmacotherapy Research & Development Institute (SPPRDI) is committed to the development of proprietary products, their validation and recognition by the scientific and regulatory communities to optimize medication regimen in order to improve patient outcomes, reduce utilization of various healthcare services, lower healthcare costs, and manage risk.

Primary Functions:

  • Accountable and responsible for ensuring maintenance and update of gene list into the CDSS.
  • Interpret and clarify pharmacogenetics test results in a context of polypharmacy.
  • Research clinical utility of gene-variant to modify or create TRHC's pharmacogenomics gene panel(s).
  • Oversee the pharmacogenomics consult service and its infrastructure.
  • Gather information from reliable source to populate the corresponding fields in TRHC pharmacogenomics knowledge database.
  • Compare and assess different gene lists to gather necessary information to create, implement, modify, or act-up on to contribute to TRHC's pharmacogenomics current and future pharmacogenomics panel.
  • Provide and develop drug information related to pharmacogenomics, dosing guideline algorithms, drug-gene monographs.
  • Fully knowledgeable about pharmacogenomics; to address, identify and resolve scientific and clinical issues.
  • TRHC's clinical pharmacist contact and communication in regards further explanation of pharmacogenetics interpretation.
  • Contributes to expert pharmacogenomics input into educational training programs and educational materials.
  • Manage and interact with pharmacogenetics lab provider(s).
  • Precepting/supervise or collaborate to PharmD student research projects in pharmacogenomics.
  • Complies with all applicable regulations, maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies

 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • MSc or PhD in pharmacogenetics, clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics or other relevant fields or equivalent experience.
  • PharmD or MD degree would be advantageous
  • Certification in pharmacogenomics is preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-5 years of experience pharmacogenetics is preferred.
  • Previous experience in genetics or molecular biology is preferred

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • It would be advantageous for the candidate to have knowledge on drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters.
  • Demonstrated ability and strong understanding with preclinical and clinical PK and PGx data.
  • Demonstrates ability to drive for results independently.
  • Participates in team for ensuring valid methods and in assessing review process.
  • Applicant should be organized, self-motivated and capable of working autonomously and in a collaborative environment.
