Share Email Opening Title 2020-01-02-Software Engineer (AD)  Description About the Position Specialty Systems, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer with the below described skill set and experience to join our team of technical professionals supporting our Department of Defense customer at the Joint Base MDL-Lakehurst. In this position, you will have a high profile role within the software team supporting the development and on-going in-service engineering support of unique Department of Defense systems. You will be working on one of the Navy’s mission critical information systems. Ideal candidates will have a broad set of technical skills and must be able to work both individually and within a team environment. As a member of our team you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our Department of Defense customers’ systems that have a direct impact on our country’s war-fighting and peace-keeping capabilities are performing at optimal levels. This position is located at our customer site location at Joint Base MDL-Lakehurst. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9 hour days (M-Th) and an 8 hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9 hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3 day weekend every other week! Job responsibilities will include: Developing/maintaining software modules using the Java programming language. Performing unit testing of software modules. Developing software requirements specifications for application enhancements and future new releases. Maintaining traceability from software requirements to design elements to code modules. Participating in project team peer reviews of software development work products. An additional 4 years of directly related work experience may be considered for substitution of the degree requirement for highly qualified candidates. Must have at least 3 years experience working in a software development role using Java, C, C++, C# or similar programming languages. It is preferred that at least 1 year of this experience be on Department of Defense systems. Comptia Security+ certification is required within 6 months of start date. Comptia (or similar) Windows or Linux OS training completion is required within 6 months of start date. Must have an active clearance at the Secret level. Candidates without security clearances will be considered, however, they will not be able to begin working until they receive at least an interim secret clearance (generally takes between 2 and 3 weeks). Technical: Must have strong software development skills in Java, C, C++, C#, and/or similar programming languages. Must have experience developing applications for a browser-based implementation in the following architecture: Browser client interface, Application Server layer, and Database layer. Must have experience developing rich internet applications using JavaFX. Must have solid web development skills and experience, including working with application servers such as JBoss and databases such as MySQL. Must have experience using Git and GitHub. Experience with the Atlassian Products Jira, Confluence, and Bamboo is a plus.
