Summary

Responsible for working with CSC Engineering workgroups (locally and in our Ukraine offices), Supply Chain, Configuration Management, Quality, Continuous Improvement and Production teams to ensure the highest quality products, most easily manufactured designs, and most efficient manufacturing processes. Follow design through the products life cycle. Interact with customers to help clarify any design issues. Develop and maintain reports and metrics to ensure manufacturing facility efficiency. Along with Engineering, develop and design fixtures to increase quality and efficiencies. Coax cable, wire harness, and LRU assembly experience in a contract manufacturing job shop environment preferred. Working knowledge of Machined and Sheet Metal products preferred. Working knowledge of Aero Space, Medical, or Automotive quality standards preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the creation of visual work instructions to ensure quality product and ease of manufacturability.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of live metrics to drive manufacturing efficiency.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a visual workspace environment on the production floor to ensure clear communication of priorities.
  • Collaborate with engineering throughout the design process to ensure standardization, ease of procurement and manufacturability.
  • Assure cost effective designs by finding lower cost alternatives to components and collaborating with Supply Chain to establish discounts.
  • Confer with Supply Chain to determine best sources for parts and services required by engineering.
  • Working closely with manufacturing and vendors to understand limits and capabilities that may drive cost effective design.
  • Providing engineering support for the production department and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve engineering and quality problems.
  • Provide support and input into production floor layout, equipment, and improvements.
  • Ensure necessary tooling is available to assemble wire harness and coax cable assemblies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The position will supervise 2 or more Electrical Testing Technicians.

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or in a related technical and/or equivalent field.
  • Experience in cable, wire harness and LRU assembly cell experience.
  • Expert knowledge of mechanical and electrical design and manufacturing for electrical harnesses and coaxial cable. Sheet metal and machine parts experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in the Aviation/Aerospace or similar industry.
  • Experience with Intuitive ERP software platform.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a job shop contract manufacturing environment in an engineering capacity.
  • Hands on experience in a role of manufacturing and engineering liaison.
  • Experience with coax cable assemblies and various wire harness assemblies in a contract manufacturing job shop environment.
  • Working knowledge of Machined and Sheet Metal products.
  • Working knowledge of Aerospace or automotive quality standards.
  • Six Sigma training, Lean Manufacturing Kizen problem solving implementation.
