Responsible for the direction and management of the Software Engineering and Enterprise Architecture teams which includes Software Development, Quality Assurance, Enterprise Architecture, Data Integration, Solution Engineering and Business Intelligence functions at Grant County PUD. Manages, implements and enforces the architecture standards for Grant PUD’s enterprise technology. The position is responsible for workload and capacity management in planning and achieving roadmap target outcomes through effective staff capability development, project oversight and resource management.

Define and prioritize project and resource schedules that align with Enterprise Technology Roadmaps and District Strategy. Provide realistic capacity estimates and manage staff workload to commitments, removing obstacles for staff. Manage staff amongst the technology department, guide ET supervisors, project managers and internal stakeholders to ensure proper project hand off, scheduling and communication.
Manage and lead the technology architecture and software engineering practices. Provide overall guidance and direction for solution architecture, systems design and implementation. Provides technology architecture direction that informs and aligns the enterprise technology roadmap. Ensure long term viability of core technologies to support ongoing modernization of utility operations and expansion of business capabilities.
Responsible for the development, advancement and enforcement of technology standards. Responsible for ensuring a high level of stakeholder satisfaction is attained while providing technological development and architectural services. Actively promote teamwork approach in conducting business.
Mentor and coach staff, fostering goal-oriented thinking. Provides leadership and direct feedback to employees regarding performance, career goals, risk management, project goals and stakeholder interactions.
Coordinate and lead meetings and communication with business partners and other IT groups to remove impediments, plan and coordinate activities, manage relationships, and resolve conflicts. Work with the leaders in the department to develop the IT strategy, business plan, and tactical initiatives. Oversee the execution of the strategic plan, IT goals, roadmaps and various initiatives.
Develop and manage technology and project budgets, approve expenditures, manage contract compliance and vendors. Understands and projects the needs of the department and manages the resources via a multi-year plan. Allocate staff where needed and fill potential capability gaps.
Assess the value of emerging technologies by conducting opportunity assessments and delivering proof-of-concepts. Stay abreast of current industry trends and leads enterprise technology teams in developing solution architecture to deliver new and improved capabilities.
Identify, recommend and implement improvement initiatives for the organizational function and practice area(s). Lead, organize and proactively engage in larger department transformation initiatives to improve quality and professionalism of work. Hold staff accountable to operating procedures, standards and practices.
