Job Summary

The New Century Farmer conference facilitator will be responsible for facilitating small and large group sessions as well as logistical planning for the conference. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: presenting conference curriculum, leading a small group, providing counsel and motivating participants. Staff members will also handle minor administrative tasks which include, but are not limited to: completion of expense reports, schedule travel, and regular correspondence with staff. Staff members are required to participate in training prior to the start of the conference.

Essential Functions

  • Must be able to coach, guide, and motivate participants.
  • Must be able to lead both large and small groups.
  • Must be able to perform the physical and mental demands of the position.
  • Must be able to work independently and in groups.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to interact and work with a diverse group of internal and/or external customers.
  • Must be able to analyze and solve problems.
  • Must be computer literate and be able to make and receive phone calls.
  • Must be willing to spend extra time planning for the conference.
  • Must be a past New Century Farmer participant.

2020 New Century Farmer Conference Details

Dates:

July 9, 2020 Travel to Des Moines, Iowa

July 10, 2020 Facilitator training begins

July 12, 2020 Conference begins

July 17, 2020 Conference ends

July 18, 2020 Facilitators depart

Compensation: $1000 conference honorarium with lodging, transportation and meal expenses paid.
