POSITION SUMMARY: For Fall 2020 - Spring 2021, we are hiring a visiting assistant professor/instructor to teach American politics.

 

The political science department of Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania is searching for a one-year, full time, visiting assistant professor or instructor (depending on degree completion status) in American politics for the 2020-2021 academic year. The position will entail a three-three teaching load that will focus on basic American political institutions and processes for a total of six courses. Candidates seeking this position must be able to teach a foundational introductory course in American political systems. Multiple sections of the introductory course would be offered over the course of the two-semester appointment. Candidates must be able to teach a course on American political parties and elections in the Fall 2020 semester. In addition to such courses, candidates for the position will be asked to offer at least two upper division courses over the academic year from among the following areas: Congress and the Presidency, Public Policy and Public Administration (Administrative Politics), and/or Environmental Politics.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Our liberal arts courses require appropriate reading and writing assignments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful applicants will have ABD status or a completed doctorate in political science. For ABDs, this position will have visiting instructor status. Teaching experience is required. Moravian College is a New American College with a commitment to the liberal arts and student-focused pedagogy. Our four-person department places a high value on dedicated teaching and high levels of student engagement. The College is located approximately an hour and a half driving distance from both Philadelphia and New York City.
