Field Outreach Representative

Position Summary

Under direction, the Field Outreach Representative is responsible for promoting the Me2 home energy program and the Better Buildings Challenge commercial energy efficiency program in concert with the City of Milwaukee’s Environmental Collaboration Office ( These programs are operated in the city of Milwaukee and the Field Outreach Representative will be working in all neighborhoods of the City of Milwaukee. This is a part-time, 20 hour per week position that should run through June 30, 2021.

Primary and Essential Responsibilities

1. Develop partnerships with market providers, participating financial institutions, and/or end-use customers that increase energy savings generated by Energy Programs.

  • Maintain relationships and regular communication with market providers and/or customers in an assigned area.
  • Manage, maintain, educate and prospect a territory.
  • Assist market providers in developing and implementing plans for integrating efficient products and programs into their business.
  • Provide training for market provider staff on program goals, objectives, terms, conditions, materials, and related sales tactics as needed to support their participation.
  • Seek out new market providers and/or customer projects in assigned territory and re-engage dormant accounts.
  • As needed, provide market providers and/or utility customers with assistance preparing incentive applications and review draft applications for accuracy.
  • As needed, communicate the findings of energy assessments to customers (including pertinent site data, calculations, prioritized list of potential measures and estimated savings and incentives).
  • Maintain database of project prospects and/or market provider interactions with contact information and project details, including timelines, trade allies, manufacturer representatives, proposed products, estimated energy savings and estimated incentive amounts.
  • Plan, organize and prioritize workload to meet customer and program needs.
  • Identify and resolve project application issues with customers.

2. Represent clients on energy efficiency programs at trade association events and community-based events

  • Present to business groups, trade associations, and/or customers on energy efficiency programs.
  • Seek out opportunities for partnership with trade associations to promote the program and achieve energy savings.

3. Actively participate as a member of Slipstream’s assigned workgroups and act as a team member to the City of Milwaukee’s Environmental Collaboration Office.

4. Assist with annual federal reports associated with the Me2 program.

5.These responsibilities are not all inclusive and other duties may be assigned from time-to-time.

Position Requirements


  • Exhibit project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple assignments/projects simultaneously with minimal direction to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate ability to change direction quickly and support rapidly changing customer requests
  • Skilled at verbal & written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments & projects to meet deadlines
  • Experience developing & tracking key performance indicators
  • Analytical & critical thinking skills
  • Program budget management
  • Client/ Customer/ Colleague relationship development & management or sales.
  • Demonstrate team leadership / facilitation skills
  • Technical knowledge in lighting, HVAC, and other residential or non-residential building systems preferred


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of work-related experience building partnerships
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite
