Description

Overview:

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking an Executive Director for Healthcare Trustees of New York State (HTNYS). This position is headquartered in Rensselaer, New York (upstate NY's Capital Region). HANYS is a statewide, membership association representing over 500 hospitals and healthcare systems since 1925. HTNYS proudly supports New York's hospital and health system trustees as an affiliate of HANYS.

Under the general direction of the Trustee Board and the President of Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS), develops education, communications, marketing, and advocacy strategy and plans for healthcare trustees and coordinates such between HTNYS and HANYS. Designs and oversees trustee conferences and other programs designed to enhance the governance, policy, and advocacy skills of trustees. This position is also responsible for overseeing constituency services for Auxilians. Key activities for this full-time position are:

  • Assures the coordination of advocacy and policy activities between HTNYS and HANYS.
  • Initiates and builds statewide trustees' participation in, and awareness of, Healthcare Trustees of New York State, and its programs, activities, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Oversees division policy and advocacy strategy and content and conduct of conferences, and other programs designed to enhance the governance, policy, and advocacy skills of trustees.
  • Actively participates on HANYS internal teams related to key policy issues and participates and contributes to HANYS' formal and informal teams as appropriate.
  • Oversees the marketing strategy for the division including HTNYS and Auxilians.
  • Monitors the fiscal integrity of HTNYS, and in conjunction with HANYS, develops, maintains, and reports budgets and division workplans.
  • Spearheads the trustee PAC strategy and coordinates tracking trustee PAC contributions with the Vice President of HANYS Member Engagement. Participates on the HANYS PAC Steering Committee.
  • Responsible for the management of staff necessary to carry out the programmatic objectives of the division, including the areas of recruitment/retention, performance management, training and development.

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive and related experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be substituted.
  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare issues, advocacy, policy activities and management of organizations is expected.
  • Experience working with multiple entities to achieve common goals and objectives is required.
  • Prior experience managing a team to successfully met goals and objectives is required.
  • Exceptional written and public speaking skills essential.
  • Travel within New York State approximately six days a month, requiring overnight stay.
