Share Email Opening Title Oral History Projects Curatorial Intern - Summer 2020 (Academy Gold)  Description Summary: The Oral History department is seeking a summer intern to support the original productions of the Visual History Program, a born-digital recording initiative of long-form video interviews with influential filmmakers, craftspeople and technologists. This collection is currently made up of more than 200 interviews, and over 800 content hours. Responsibilities: Execute both administrative and research-driven projects. Curatorial activities including thematic selections of materials, research of interview participants, creation of reference materials for future projects. Assist with research (utilizing transcript resources) and organize/develop materials in the Visual History Program and Oral History Projects collections for use both within OHP and the Academy Film Archive as well as for inclusion in exhibits in the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.   Position Requirements Undergraduate (junior or senior) or graduate student majoring in film, moving image archive studies, library science, or museum studies. Knowledge of and interest in film history. Excellent writing and research skills with a keen attention to detail. Experience creating bibliographies, organizing image and text files, drafting and editing short texts, and editing video. Cataloging/data entry and file management experience. Familiarity with spreadsheets (including Excel and Google Docs). Strong problem-solving, multitasking, and project management skills. This internship is part of the Academy Gold Program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members.
