Share Email Opening Title Archival Intern, Science and Technology Council - Summer 2020 (Academy Gold)  Description Summary: Established in 2003 by the Academy's Board of Governors, the Science and Technology Council provides a forum for the exchange of information, promotes cooperation among diverse technological interests within the industry, sponsors publications, fosters educational activities, and preserves the history of the science and technology of motion pictures. One of the Council's projects is maintaining a comprehensive list of Scientific and Technical Award recipients and nominees who have made significant contributions to the field of science and technology within the motion picture industry. You will have the opportunity to work with an information management system (InMagic). You will gain experience by working with primary research material. You will contribute data to the input guidelines. Responsibilities: Edit existing database records, conforming to Margaret Herrick Library standards and procedures. Assist the Archivist in the collection development and maintenance of the Council's information resource/reference library (does not include book cataloging). Assist in the creation of subject/reference files. Assist with research of filmmaking technology.   Position Requirements Currently enrolled in an accredited Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) university degree program. Successful completion of American Archives and Manuscripts helpful. Knowledge of motion picture technology and history a plus. Proficiency with MS Office and database software. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work well independently as well as part of a team. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. and access boxes from tall shelving. This internship is part of the Academy Gold Program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members.
