Job Summary:
Determine the tools, equipment, materials, method and sequence of operations and setups required to completely fabricate, fusion weld, braze and cut various metals used in the fabrication, construction, erection, installation, maintenance and repair of plant machinery, equipment and structures per blueprints, sketches, verbal instructions and established practice and procedure – all this while exhibiting and championing safe work and environmental compliance practices for the incumbent as well as co-workers.

•PerformExhibits and maintains safe work and environmental compliance practices while performing the following tasks:
all types of fabrication, construction, erection, installation, maintenance, repair, modification and rework of machinery, equipment (non-automotive), and structures per blueprints, sketches and verbal instructions
•Diagnose failures, malfunctions, and other breakdown of machinery, equipment, systems and structures and their component parts and modify, rebuild or repair by fabricating, fitting, adjusting, installing, constructing, disassembling, reassembling, and welding
•Fabricate frames, structures, and component parts from sheet metal, flat or rolled stock, etc. Performs any type of welding, brazing and cutting after preparation of surfaces and materials
•Perform layout involving straight line, horizontal, parallel and angular surfaces and constant radius circular flat surfaces from blueprints, welding manuals, and sketches per established shop practice and procedure and from verbal instructions. Perform such typical distinguishing duties related to layout as: fabricate square or round ducting involving non-complex angles; repair ducting, including the cutting and fitting of replacement patches in elbows and transitions of squares to rounds; cut and fit patches for separator cones, shells, screw cases, dust collectors and conveyor lines; repair and weld cooler shells and frames and kiln shell sections; build framework for buildings, forms and screw installations; fabricate skip pans; repair guards; build non-complex hoppers; patch and repair chute holes and openings; repair fan wheels, including replacement of blades or component parts of fan; repair dust dampers; build non-complex slide gates; repair or replace pipe lines (welded lines only); fabricate and install cylinders on belt idlers; repair stairways and handrails; and fabricate and build non-complex platforms
•Check own work for proper dimensions, contour alignment, fit, proper functioning, quality, safety and conformance to specifications
•Use all necessary materials, tools and equipment as required in performance of above duties
•Set up and use rigging and cribbing as required
•Pick up parts from storeroom, as required; upon completion of jobs, returns tools, equipment, surplus parts and materials to designated areas; keep working areas clean, orderly and safe Replaces and/or constructs serviceable guards
•Performs duties of Dust Collector and Luber
•Performs clean up duties in all areas of the facility
•Perform other work as assigned

Position Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required

• Familiarity with computers
• Ability to read blueprints
• Knowledge of metallurgy
• Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in the English language
• Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibility
• Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours)
• Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground)
• Physical ability to climb on equipment
• Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required
• Must be able to lift and carry items up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to work in surroundings that include heat, dust, vibration, heights and confined spaces
• Must be able to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs, and stockpiles, stoop, and crawl under and into enclosed spaces
• Ability to see and hear safety indicators and warnings
• Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry and/or dusty conditions and near hot kiln process
• Will have exposure to all levels of noise that require use of hearing protection
• Exposure to cement, clay, limestone and various chemicals. See MSDS for more details.

• Preferred knowledge of all types of equipment used in the manufacturing of cement

Conditions of Employment:
Successful candidate must submit to post offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
