Description

Summary Objective:

As VP Software Engineering you will report directly to the CTO and join a dynamic and growing company on a digital transformation journey. You will be primarily be responsible for leading Microsoft-oriented software development teams with secondary responsibility for non-Microsoft technologies acquired in recent acquisitions. These software development teams play a key role supporting and delivering applications used by both external customers and internal operations teams in support of the continued growth of the company.

Essential Functions:

  • Enable delivery of increasing amounts of high-quality, on-target software.
  • Guide, coach, and mentor software development teams and engineers.
  • Provide project management and technical leadership for every aspect of development.
  • Supervise architecture plus lead efforts to develop technical roadmap for all projects.
  • Establish best practices SDLC standards and processes.
  • Conduct design and code reviews to ensure software quality in support of business goals.
  • Evaluate projects, develop, and update schedules plus supervise project status.
  • Simplify or optimize systems to reduce cost while improving resiliency and performance.
  • Ensure projects with multiple system dependencies are well-coordinated.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to influence and improve products.
  • Develop relations with internal customers to understand all individual requirements.
  • Manage and execute software development projects from beginning to finish.
  • Manage vendor partners to ensure cost-effective, high-quality services are provided.
  • Supervise resource allocation to ensure timely delivery while meeting personnel development goals.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members as well as hold regular team meetings.

 
Position Requirements

Required Education & Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience leading application teams with a best practices SDLC
  • 4+ years of experience in software development in a financial services-related business
  • 4+ years of experience leading one application development team
  • 2+ years of experience leading multiple application development teams
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience working with .NET web applications
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience working with SQL databases and writing SQL queries
  • Experience using the .NET framework and .NET development
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Core Competencies:

  • Development experience with Microsoft technologies such as client-server development on Microsoft Windows platforms, object-oriented programming practices, .NET technology for both Windows Desktop and web applications.
  • Experience with VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, JavaScript, Angular, HTML, CSS, REST/Web Services
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, Access, Oracle, and MongoDB.
  • Experience with automated and manual software testing best practices.
  • Experience with application security best practices.
  • Knowledge of cloud and open source application development is a plus.
  • Strong technical background with ability to perform and deliver under pressure.
  • Ability to mentor and build high performing teams.
  • Experience in the tech industry/cloud background experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills with the ability to influence and lead others.
  • Ability to adapt to a diverse and ever-changing environment.
