Description

SUMMARY
Supports the Historic Preservation team with a variety of day-to-day duties and special projects including Standards/Guidelines update, records digitization/management, grant writing, Heritage Tours, and Building South Bend: Past, Present, & Future.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Assist team during work/site visits
• Research and provide input on best practices for historic preservation
• Fulfill research requests
• Assist with record keeping, digitization and management of documents
• Organize physical files
• Prepare written reports
• Research grants and draft applications.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• College undergraduate, graduate student, or recent university graduate with academic focus/experience in a degree program related to any of the following: historic preservation, history, architecture, business, public administration, urban planning.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Ability to work with a degree of autonomy
• Enjoyment of working and interacting with a variety of people
• Must be flexible, courteous, and interested in public service
• Excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills
• Quick learner, efficient and ability to multitask.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• None.

EQUIPMENT
Desktop, mobile devices (i.e. iPad, tablet, smartphone) and laptop computer; telephone.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in office settings, with moderate inside temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Entire office is smoke free.
