Groundskeeper / Custodian 


What are we looking for in a Groundskeeper / Custodian?

As part of the Property Management team, Groundskeeper / Custodian is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and cleanliness of Comprehensive's facilities, both inside and outside. This includes snow removal, lawn mowing, trash & debris removal, emergency clean-up, sanitizing bathrooms, vacuuming, replacing lights, and other duties to ensure that each of our buildings is neat and presentable. This position requires the safe use of power tools such as large power lawn mowers, floor scrubbers, and pressure washers, as well as driving a truck & trailer for landscaping activities. This position is best suited to someone with excellent time management skills, the ability to work independently, and high attention to detail. Previous experience with custodial and landscaping work is helpful for this role. This position has a regular full-time schedule of Monday-Friday 6am-3pm, but additional hours may be required in order to respond to weather events. As the main groundskeeper, some early morning or evening work may be necessary depending on ice and snow fall. Regular travel to Comprehensive sites in Yakima, Kittitas, and Klickitat Counties can be expected.

Groundskeeper / Custodian duties may include:

  • planting, pruning, weeding, & removing pests from all trees, shrubs, and flowers on Comprehensive properties
  • performing seasonal ground maintenance—mowing, edging, & fertilizing lawns; leaf raking & mulching; and snow & ice removal
  • assisting with maintenance of parking lots, sidewalks, and masonry
  • cleaning all areas of facilities as assigned, including restrooms and food service areas, following the proper procedures
  • operating custodial & grounds equipment or tools safely & responsibly
  • securing buildings by providing lock/unlock services and performing safety checks & walkthroughs during key times of the day
  • moving and setting up furniture for special events/meetings
  • following appropriate procedures and documenting completed work
Position Requirements

Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in custodial and landscaping roles is preferred.

Required Credentials: First Aid / CPR certification, driver's license & vehicle liability insurance
