Learning and Development Specialist 

Description

The Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve by cultivating and implementing learning strategies that focus on the growth and development of our people. Key responsibilities include designing and facilitating training that supports the company’s culture; working with vendors to ensure training content aligns with the learning strategy; partnering with other business units to design and deliver learning for skill development and product, industry and position knowledge; and supporting team projects. This individual is seen as a champion for the company and sets the example by promoting our culture, our values and our purpose.


Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Designs new and enhances current training programs to encompass all levels of the organization for company culture, product, industry, and position knowledge
  • Facilitates training programs to ensure skill and knowledge development
  • Assists and supports on-boarding programs for new employees and new managers; employee development; leadership development programs; and any other programs as defined currently or in the future
  • Leads projects of various degrees of complexity to design learning solutions for any level of the organization
  • Reinforces learning through coaching, communication, and follow-up with participants and leaders
  • Assists with the development and implementation of a sustainability plan for skill, competency and product programs
  • Develops and delivers training courses and curriculum that align to company culture (i.e. Fierce Conversations, Real Colors, etc.)
  • Works with outside vendors to develop and deliver courses that align to company learning strategies
  • Evaluates business impact and return on investment before and after training for individuals, teams, and company impact
  • Formulates individual/team learning and development plans
  • Works with business leaders to understand how learning can improve the results of the business and individuals by effectively translating business strategies into learning and development strategies and works with business units to prioritize learning requests
  • Manages deliverables while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality; clearly defines and documents learning/project plans
  • Supports maintenance of learning management system
  • Strives for continuous improvement for self, team and organization

Critical Success Factors:

  • Proven expertise in facilitating training both in-person and online
  • Leads by example with positive work ethic and attitude
  • Instructional design experience for in-person and online learning
  • Knowledge of and experience with learning approaches, curriculum design, and adult learning principles
  • Experience in managing meetings and group processes to ensure the objectives of the group are achieved
  • Exhibits a professional image when working with external and internal customers
  • Strives to conduct themselves in an ethical manner by upholding company values and ensures fair decisions are made in the best interest of the company
  • Project management skills with the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Readiness to modify approach or style when the situation requires it
  • Uses sound judgment that is consistent with company standards, practices, policies, procedures, and regulation or law
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to learn, grow, and adapt to change

Job Requirements/Specifications:

  • College Education preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years training and facilitation experience required
  • Strong computer skills including experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience with Training, Learning & Development and/or Organizational Development required
  • Demonstrated experience in developing curricula and delivering training sessions required
  • Customer Service experience required
  • Demonstrated project management ability
