We are hiring a Part Time Activity Assistant. This position covers hours during the week and on the weekend.

Position Requirements

Job Title: Activity Assistant

Immediate Supervisors: Activity Director


  1. Ability to implement individual and group activities
  2. Ability to assist the efforts of volunteers involved in the activity program
  3. Must be organized and self-motivated
  4. Must have ability to work independently
  5. Must be willing to work weekends and evenings as necessary to carry out assigned activities.
  6. Ability to interact with geriatric residents of differing attention levels
  7. Ability to read, write and document resident participation and response to activities
  8. Must be able to stand or walk throughout the shift
  9. Must be able to lift a maximum of 10#
  10. Must be able to bend, squat and twist body occasionally during the shift.

Working Conditions:

  1. May be subject to bruises and scratches from residents striking out
  2. May be exposed to infections and odors
  3. May be involved unexpectedly, or on short notice, to tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or mucous membranes


  1. Assist in providing individual and group recreational and social activity in the facility or outside the facility as assigned by the Activity Director. This may include, but is not limited to: shopping trips, sight-seeing trips, parties, films, letter writing, library services, reading, etc.
  2. Encourage residents to participate in hobbies or activities provided by the facility.
  3. Assist in setting up the facility newsletter and monthly activity calendars
  4. Attend in-service meetings relative to the activity program
  5. Communicate and cooperate with the Activity Director and other employees on staff in coordinating activities.
  6. Assist in developing and expanding volunteer and religious programs for the facility under the supervision of the Activity Director
  7. Assist Activity Director in maintaining the required documentation in the medical chart including attendance, progress and behavior of the resident in the activities program.
  8. Any and all other duties as assigned by Activity Director or Administrator.
