Supplier Quality Engineer

Description

Astronics-PECO, located in Clackamas, Oregon, designs and manufactures highly engineered commercial aerospace interior components and systems for the aerospace industry. We specialize in Passenger Service Units (PSUs) which incorporate air handling, emergency oxygen, electrical power management, and cabin lighting systems. We also manufacture a wide range of fuel tank access doors that meet stringent strength, fuel sealing, and anti-corrosion requirements.

We are seeking a professional Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities & Activities Include:

  • Perform suppliers Quality Management System assessments and assist Supply Chain in conducting on-site supplier audits. Generate Supplier Audit reports.
  • Recommend suppliers for qualification and/or disqualification based upon quality assessment and/or performance.
  • Collect and evaluate supplier performance and quality data, identify process improvement opportunities within the supply chain.
  • Collect, analyze and report supplier performance metrics.
  • Participate in ECN meetings to ensure awareness of design changes, assess supplier impact and AS9102 First Article Process.
  • Investigate reported supplier quality issues and facilitate internal MRB meetings.
  • Perform or lead root cause analysis on purchased part or product quality issues, and work issues through the containment phase of the corrective action process.
  • Communicate and instruct suppliers on the use of the corrective action process, quality tools, and techniques.
  • Follow up and perform verification of supplier corrective action response.
  • Flow down requirements of APQP, including Core Tools of FMEA, Control Plans, and MSA.
  • Support QC Incoming Inspection by developing quality plans, defining CTQs, identification of gages and training.

This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation and this position may be responsible for the performance of various functions that may be an integral part of the Company’s overall SOX / 404 internal control structure.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct supervisory responsibilities currently exist but will be required to provide technical direction and guidance to auditors.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or comparable experience in Quality Engineering.
  • Quality tools knowledge - ISO-9001/AS9100, FMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow, MSA, SPC, 8D.
  • Proficiency in reading prints, interpretation, and part measurement.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent decision making, time management, and reasoning ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • ASQ-CQE certification preferred.
  • Willing to travel domestically and some International.
