Job Summary:

The Pablo Ferro Papers Processing Intern is responsible for arranging and describing title design drawings and research from the Pablo Ferro papers. The Pablo Ferro papers document the career of film titles designer and graphic designer Pablo Ferro, whose credits include Dr. Strangelove, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Men in Black.

This is a part-time position in the Graphic Arts department of the Margaret Herrick Library reporting to the Production Art Librarian. We will be providing cataloging and acquisitions training for a graduate student or recent graduate of a program related to library, information, or archives studies.

Responsibilities:

• Arrange and describe production art materials from the Pablo Ferro papers.

• Create original catalog records in the Academy's data management system, AdLib.

• Identify conservation needs and coordinate with conservation staff to address them.

• Other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements
  • Must be working toward completion or will be graduating in May 2020 from an MLIS or related graduate program.
  • Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies, Art, or an allied field preferred.
  • Interest in film history.
  • Prior library or archives experience, preferably in a special collections environment.
  • Awareness of cataloging principles.
  • Practiced in handling fragile materials.
  • Strong computer skills with database experience.
  • Must be self-motivated, dependable, and efficient with the ability to work successfully both independently and with colleagues.
  • Attention to detail and orderly work habits with clear hand-writing and strong writing skills.
  • Ability to lift/move moderately heavy boxes (20 lbs.) and other objects to and from high and low shelves and drawers.

This internship is part of the Academy Gold Program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members.
