Systems & Technology Research (STR) is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic Security Representative with working knowledge of PERSEC duties to join our growing Security organization at our Woburn, MA office.

STR specializes in advanced research and development for defense, intelligence and homeland security applications, including sensor development, signal processing, computer vision, social media processing, cyber defense, and data analytics. At STR, we foster a partnership between our technical staff and business operations professionals to provide innovative solutions to our nation’s toughest problems.

The Security Representative will provide support to personnel with any personnel security requirement within Sensitive Compartment Information Facilities (SCIF) and Special Access Program Facilities (SAPF) in accordance with the NISPOM, ICD 704 and DOD 5205.07, Volume 2. The Security Representative will be responsible for tracking and maintaining all PERSEC information to include clearance status, SCI and SAP access, security training records, personnel information files (PIFs) visit certification (VAR) and foreign travel across all STR locations (Woburn, MA, Arlington, VA and Dayton, OH. They will also process incoming Program Access Request (PAR) and associated documentation through JADE.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform program security administrative tasks and duties i.e. filing, updating logs/lists, supplies, coordination with internal and external customers
  • Interpret and implement security classification guidance
  • Develop and maintain the PERSEC Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Prepare and participate in yearly DSS Security Vulnerability Assessment
  • Maintain personnel security records for SAP/SAR/SCI related programs to include the use of SIMS, JPAS, and Scattered Castles
    • Submit employees for clearances and periodic reinvestigations through JPAS as required
    • Perform initial access eligibility determinations and create PARs and SCI nominations
  • Conduct internal self-inspections and assist with Staff Assistance Visits and Customer Security Assessments related to PERSEC
  • Ensure all classified materials are marked and controlled in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Review operational requirements and system specification documents to ensure applicable security requirements are addressed and incorporated into security processes
 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of multiple DOD and service security references, regulations, and instructions pertaining to PERSEC, especially the NISPOM, ICD 704 and DOD 5202.07 Vol 2. experience preferred.
  • Ability to constructively engage and resolve challenging situation
  • Available to work before/after typical office hours as work may demand
  • Independent self-starter, proactive and professional assertive
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Strong analytical skill and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • 3+ Years' experience as an PERSEC Specialist
  • Working knowledge of PERSEC roles and responsibilities
  • Active Top-Secret security clearance and current within the last five years.
  • Experience and ability to effectively use JPAS, DISS, Scattered Castles and SIMS
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite - specifically Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Detail oriented and well organized; able to multi-task and handle competing priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in reviewing eQIP’s, Program Access Requests (PARs), Program Security Questionnaires (PSQs) and SCI nominations at all levels.
  • Excellent communications skills (written & oral)
  • Customer focused and has excellent time management skills.
  • Other taskings as required by manager.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledgeable of the DoD SAP Manuals Vol 1-4
  • Previous security experience working in a SAP/SCI environments
