Sr. Manager, Membership Screenings and Public Programs 



Reporting to the Managing Director, Preservation and Foundation Programs, the Sr. Manager, Membership Screenings and Public Programs works in a fast-paced, project-oriented department, managing a slate of diverse public programs including events, screenings, and seminars, as well as weekend Membership screenings and panels.


  • Manage weekend Membership screenings and panels, including:
  • Oversee panel discussions and serve as primary contact for studio reps, publicists and panelists.
  • On-site liaison for reps and panelists.
  • Book moderators and manage delivery of research.
  • Serve as occasional moderator/back-up moderator.
  • Schedule interviews with panelists for our digital media department.
  • Manage department staff.
  • Manage all aspects of public program presentation, from research and development through booking, promotion, ticketing, reception and show set-ups, talent relations, audience flow, and show format. Onsite troubleshooting and interdepartmental direction during events in ticket sales, reception, inside the theater, and backstage talent area.
  • Oversee travel and hotel arrangements for special guests, domestically and internationally, as necessary.
  • Supervise weekly bill paying and periodic budget preparation.
  • Ensure smooth partnership between Marketing, Publicity, Theater Operations, Security, Meetings Services and other Academy departments.
  • Research and write texts for program, promotional and website usage.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Publicity department to develop comprehensive promotional strategies and materials.
  • Oversee the selection of clips and other show elements and ensure all necessary licenses from distribution companies and studio legal departments are secured. Work with editors and projection to properly format clip sequences for suitable presentation.
  • Determine and assess special in-theater set-up needs (e.g. stage build-outs, sound equipment set-ups, musical instrument set-ups, celebrity traffic flow).
  • Ensure proper visual documentation (video and photographic) of events.
  • Maintain department workflow calendar and temporary staffing.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with film emphasis strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of film history and filmmaking techniques essential.
  • Experience managing events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for heavy interdepartmental interfacing, consensus-building, public relations, celebrity interaction, and networking with outside vendors.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, Filemaker Pro, photo-scanning, on-line research and social media platforms.
  • Must be proactive with a willingness to take ownership of projects both small and large.
  • Ability to collaboratively manage and assist in overseeing multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and maintain a pleasant demeanor in all circumstances.
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
