Corrosion Control Systems/Electrical Engineer SME Technical Support 

Description

The Corrosion Control Systems/Electrical Engineer SME will provide engineer support for USAF corrosion control requirements/projects to include cathodic protection, protective coatings/paint, industrial water treatment and material selection/design areas.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:
• Help validate system study recommendations to address identified deficiencies and interface with AF Installations to help facilitate the development of project programming documentation.
• Consolidate and condense information from multiple studies for the development of status reports and briefings. Corrosion control support shall involve a wide variety of facility and infrastructure assets/activities; planning, programming, budget, design, evaluation, management and construction issue recommendations for AF cathodic protection, protective coatings/paint, industrial water treatment and material selection/design systems.
• Assist with proposal development, if necessary.

 
Position Requirements

Experience:
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience.
• Five (5) years’ experience directly related to the design, construction, and/or operation and maintenance of corrosion control systems to include cathodic protection, protective coatings/paint, industrial water treatment, and material selection/design.
• Must have previous experience in reviewing, analyzing, and studying large corrosion control systems in order to determine the condition, vulnerability, and operational capabilities of cathodic protection, protective coatings/paint, industrial water treatment, and material selection/design areas.
• Must be familiar with DoD and AF engineering policies/concepts associated with corrosion control systems to include:

  • Established understanding of corrosion control system installation designs as well as operation and maintenance activities for cathodic protection, protective coatings/paint, industrial water treatment and material selection/design systems.
  • Proven knowledge of cathodic protection systems and subsystem components as well as the system interface with fuel, water and/or natural gas storage and distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated ability of a working knowledge and familiarity with National Association of Corrosion Engineers-International (NACE), Society of Protective Coatings (SSPC), NFPA, NESC, NEMA and IEEE requirements that govern corrosion control systems, especially cathodic protection and protective coatings areas.
  • Familiarity with Air Force Instructions (AFI), Unified Facility Criteria (UFC), Unified Facility Guidance Specifications (UFGS), other AF and DoD technical documents, and industry technical documents/standards dealing with corrosion prevention, mitigation and control.
  • An understanding of corrosion control assessments and studies for cathodic protection, protective coatings, industrial water treatment and material selection/design in preventing, mitigating and controlling corrosion for facilities and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting corrosion control system site drawings, schematics, details, and analyses.

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• Professional Engineer License; NACE CP2 Certification (minimum).

Other Required Skills & Abilities:
• Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

Security Clearance: Secret security clearance required.

US Citizenship: This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Sawdey Solution Services to staff it only with U.S. Citizens.
