Description

The Airfield Lighting, Lightning, and Grounding Systems/Electrical Engineering SME Technical Support Provide engineering support for Air Force electrical and electrical controls requirements/projects. This includes providing professional reviews, assessments, and offering expert recommendations and proposed responses to the SME.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Provide technical assistance and recommendations during the development, update and/or revisions of technical criteria documents.
  • Provide Electrical Support.
    • This electrical support shall involve a wide variety of electrical assets/activities, to include Air Force airfield lighting systems, lightning protection systems, and grounding systems, planning, programming, design, evaluation, management and construction issue recommendations.
  • Assist with fielding questions that come from the bases/installations. This may involve research analysis, calculations, and reports related to airfield lighting, lightning protection, and grounding systems.
  • Assist with development, review of training plans and courses.
  • Perform site visits to assist the bases with technical issues.
  • Assist in documenting program files, organizing files and providing administrative support, such as updating and maintaining technical support resources such as CE DASH requests.
  • Provide engineer support for 25-40 AF electrical and electrical controls requirements annually.
  • Provide technical assistance and recommendations during the development, update and/or revisions of 30-45 technical documents.
  • Perform 5-10 site visits annually to assist the bases with airfield, grounding and lightning protection electrical issues.
  • Assisting in documenting program files, organizing files and providing administrative support, such as updating and maintaining technical support resources such as 45-60 CE DASH requests annually.
  • Assist with proposal development, as necessary.
 
Position Requirements

Experience:

  • ? Electrical Engineer with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience, including two (2) years’ design experience.
  • Must possess a minimum five (5) years’ experience directly related to the design, construction and operation of airfield lighting, lightning protection, and grounding systems, both series and parallel systems.
  • Must have experience in modeling, analyzing and studying electrical controls systems, along with occasional other electrical systems, in order to determine the condition, vulnerability and operational capabilities of electrical infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting medium and low voltage and LPS electrical system schematics and site drawings.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Professional Engineer License.

Other Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must also be familiar with all DoD, FAA, and Air Force engineering policies/concepts.
  • Demonstrated understanding of airfield lighting, lightning protection, grounding and distribution-type system installation design applications as well as operation and maintenance activities.
  • Proven knowledge of surge protection and electrical controls systems mentioned above, and operation of series and parallel electrical systems, medium voltage power distribution infrastructure and subsystem components, as well as the low voltage facility level electrical system interface.
  • Demonstrated ability to show a working knowledge and familiarity with FAA, ICAO, NFPA, NETA, NESC, NEMA and IEEE requirements that govern power at distribution and low voltage levels, airfield lighting systems, lightning protection systems, grounding systems, surge protection systems and materials related to each of these systems.
  • Familiarity with Air Force Instructions (AFI), Unified Facility Criteria (UFC), other DoD technical documents and FAA/ICAO guidance.
  • An understanding of intent and equivalency of Codes, UFCs, FAA Orders, and other strong documents.

Security Clearance: Secret security clearance required.

US Citizenship: This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Sawdey
Solution Services to staff it only with U.S. Citizens.
