The Medical Standards Technician will support the Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC).

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Coordinate with Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officers (PEBLOs) at 82 Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs), frequently with the Air Force Medical Operating Agency (AFMOA) and Major Command (MAJCOM) Surgeons' offices to ensure smooth processing of pre-Integrated Disability Evaluation System (pre-IDES) cases.
  • Provide Professional Administrative Services and supporting active duty Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) and Commanders on program requirements, military benefits, legal rights and the appeals process.
  • Provide Management and Professional services for the Review-in-lieu-of (RILO) Military Evaluation Board (MEB), Medical Assignment Limitations Code (ALC-C), Medical Hold (Med Hold, Airman Medical Transition Unity (AMTU) and Elective Surgery programs.
  • Reviewing and understanding governing Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force Instructions (AFI) pertinent to MEB/RILO/ALC-Cs and providing guidance on MEB/ALC policy to assignment personnel, AF headquarter agencies and AF medical treatment facility personnel worldwide.
  • Extract, maintain and analyze statistical data from various database sources.
  • Provide information to PEBLOs, providers and support personnel at 82 Air Force MTFs in reference to MEB screening processes, assignment limitation codes, deployment and PCS waivers, and AMTU assignment processes.
  • Receive and prepare RILO packages for review, by downloading cases from the centralized electronic data system, creating electronic files, editing and preparing previous review documents, verifying/notating information in MILPDS, and routing documents to MTFs when applicable.
  • Screen, review, manage, proofread, sort, process, track, record and file initial RILO, Modified RILO, Annual RILO and 'return without action' response packages, and will do likewise with elective surgery and medical hold cases, working closely with other AFPC agencies to ensure appropriate administrative actions are applied.
  • Provide assignment support for an HQ AFPC assignment officer/functional whenever an assignment is being 'held' or otherwise modified, due to medical reasons.
  • Utilize tracking mechanisms to record work flow and number/type of files processed in order to support reliable AFMS and AFPC data measurement.
  • Manage all data created for government use or legally controlled by the government, in support of the functional activity or required by AF publication, IAW the AF Records Management procedures.
  • All documentation must meet or exceed the established standards of the Medical Retention Standards Branch and must be timely, legible and accurate.
  • Ensure patient identifying information is used on all documentation that is to become part of a government record system.
  • Maintain professional communication with members of AFPC and the worldwide AF medical network.
  • Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
