Operating Room RN 

Position OR Supervisor

We have five locations spanning the eastern Twin Cities of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Position Summary

Associated Eye Care is currently seeking a Lead Operating Room RN. The Operating Room RN will rotate as a Circulating RN as part of the OR team. This position is responsible for leading a team of nursing and technical staff to ensure delivery of an excellent standard of care and safety that provides a surgical environment that will give our patients the best possible outcomes with a positive experience. It is essential that that this individual is prepared to take an active leadership role in supporting the surgery schedule, supervision of supplies, and developing and maintaining a positive culture in the operating room and adjunct areas.

Essential Functions

  • Carries out responsibility for the supervision of the unit during the day and the continuity of care throughout the week
  • Promotes and maintains a high standard of nursing care
  • Plans, directs and delivers high quality person-centered care
  • Oversees ordering and managing of the OR supplies and preference cards
  • Supervision of nursing staff Circulating in OR, Surgical and Instrument Technicians. Active leader in job performance evaluations.
  • Takes an active role in the development of self and others - ensure that the team's skill and knowledge levels are able to meet the changing needs of the ASC
  • Develops the skills of the care team and ensures effective induction of all staff, together with clinical supervision of trained staff, mentorship and assessment of instrument techs, surgical techs and RNs and induction of new staff
  • Works within the AEC Code of Professional Conduct and being a mentor to others
  • Responsible for policies and procedures of the department
  • Works with the Infection Control Preventionist and the ASC Manager in meeting regulatory requirements for CMS Conditions for Coverage

Other Essential Functions

  • Must be willing and able to adjust schedule depending upon the needs of the company.
  • Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time
  • Participates in department and company meetings, as requested
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to develop and foster relationships with employees and clients at all levels of the organization; ability to give consistent and concise direction/communication to team members; ability to lead, motivate, educate, manage and train teams
  • Ability to operate successfully with strategic and tactical level issues and to effectively manage multiple and diverse issues; good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions based on data and business acumen
  • Courteous and professional demeanor while demonstrating enthusiasm and commitment to company vision and mission
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality utilizing HIPAA guidelines and maintain compliance with OSHA rules
  • Advanced computer skills, including Word and Excel and a willingness to learn new software programs

Position Requirements

Education & Licensing

  • Minnesota license as a Registered Nurse or Border State Recognition as a RN with the state of Wisconsin required
  • BSN or BA preferred


  • Five (5) years experience as a Circulating RN required
  • Lead role or Supervisory experience preferred
