Successful incumbents will have opportunities to work with their mentor on a research project, attend our Lunch ‘n’ Learns and participate in the annual Ward Summer Student Research Day where they will have an opportunity to present their findings to the organization and its visitors.   The student will be a member of the CP Discovery Lab - an interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians focused on children and youth with cerebral palsy (CP). While there will be the opportunity to work on a few different projects over the summer term, the student will specifically assist with the recruitment, data collection, and conduct of an intensive 2-week camp investigating the use of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) paired with constraint therapy in children with Hemiplegic CP to improve hand function. This role will involve integration into the camp with a focus on integrating the tDCS into the camp’s activities, recruitment of the participants, data collection, data entry and data analysis. Additionally, the student will also be involved in: literature reviews, data cleaning, analyses, manuscript writing, and reference/bibliography management. The student will gain practical experience in the process of clinical research and may lead to manuscript submission to a peer-reviewed journal with opportunities for authorship. Ultimately, the student will gain practical experience in working with children and youth with CP as well as developing a repertoire of clinical research skills.   Compensation Details The program runs for 12 weeks from May 4, 2020 – July 24, 2020. Students will be paid $14.00 per hour based on a 37.5 hour week (full-time), less statutory deductions, including 4% in lieu of vacation and relevant statutory holiday pay. Students will be paid biweekly through payroll.   Key Responsibilities Data gathering, entry, analysis and writing General administrative and clerical functions to support projects Development of program materials and assistance with presentations and teaching Interaction with clients, families and staff of the program, and other program’s staff throughout the organizations Additional duties assigned as required   Qualifications Students must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.
