Position Overview

This position will provide comprehensive technical support to Proterra’s Greenville Pre-Production Operations Manager` and other site leadership team members. You will be responsible for providing a full range of technical solutions to client groups at the site and be in an environment where you can have a greater impact.

About the Role – You will:

Assemble and produce component harnesses and electrical parts into completed units within schematics specification and/or design tolerances; Maintain acceptable performance standards for assembly, production, quality, safety, housekeeping and daily 5S standard.

Work closely with mechanical/electrical design group where required; Work with product validation group to ensure product is validated to meet system requirements.

Assist in modifying, building and validating harnesses; Assist in wiring and building of functional testing equipment as requested by Mechanical Engineers.

Performs and validates functional test; Checks and verifies quality related to built harnesses and test systems.

Maintain department blueprints, schematics, drawings, production plans and standard manufacturing procedures; Implements new technology and aids research group in development of future products.

Assists in the orientation and training of new/existing associates on various tasks; Provides assistance to department personnel in meeting department and company efficiency standards and associates job performance standards.

Maintains production and quality standards under minimal supervision; Performs minor adjustments, repairs or setups to equipment or machines.

Support the department’s preventative maintenance program for shop equipment, tools, fixtures, gauge, or machines; Assist with maintaining station metric when needed.

This position will be part of the Greenville based Production team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations in Greenville, SC.

You will report to the Preproduction operations manager and collaborate with other preproduction team members located at our Greenville SC manufacturing facility.

 
Position Requirements

About You:

Your Experience Includes:

  • Associate’s Degree in related field or equivalent relevant experience
  • 2+ years of Electrical Technician or harness assembly experience (preferably in automotive areas)
  • Experience in the following:
    • Electrical troubleshooting, assembly operations and training other in harness assembly processes
    • Identification of different wire gauges
    • Electrical assembly tasks including layout, terminating, ultrasonic welding, labeling and end of line quality checks and inspections.
    • Read engineering drawings, schematics and prints, and translated drawings and prints into finished product
  • Knowledge in the following: Low voltage (5V-24V) and high voltage (370V), electronics, electronic systems integration, heavy wiring and lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Physical Demands:
    • May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
    • Lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
    • Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
    • Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
    • Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
  • Environmental Demands:
    • Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
    • Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
    • Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.
  • Equipment Experience Desired:
    • Automatic / semi-automatic wire printer, striper labeler
    • Ultrasonic wire welder
