General Position Summary:

The Director of Infrastructure and Technology's role is responsible for the implementation and operation of the technology infrastructure deployed at MedExpress, including: data center, network/server management, service monitoring, telephony, user support/help desk, workstation/desktop management, storage and all system related software and accompanying management controls/processes. The Director of Infrastructure and Technology is responsible for all aspects of designing, engineering, implementing and maintaining a highly available, reliable, scalable technical infrastructure for the growing enterprise.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Implements and maintains governance, monitoring and required controls (ITIL processes) to insure highly available and reliable systems and operating environment.
  • Drives continuous improvement through work group facilitation and active leadership within and across the IT organization.
  • Implements, tests and validates that comprehensive business continuity planning, risk management and security controls are in place and validated on a recurring basis.
  • Mentor and coaches technology talent in support of succession planning and anticipation of future growth.
  • Participate as a member of the senior management team in governance processes of the organization's architecture, telecommunications, networks, server/computing, software design/development, media, information security and end-user computing environments.
  • Lead strategic technological planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with technology-related investments and purchases.
  • Ensure continuous delivery of technical services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of systems, programs, and equipment performance.
  • Ensure equipment and software operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations. Develop, track, and control the technical services annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations.
  • Partners with the Director of IT, Application Development and Support leadership to lead the infrastructure-related technology strategy and roadmap development and implementation for MedExpress.
  • Provides planning, project management and implementation leadership in driving required changes within the infrastructure space that will ultimately result in greater automation, reduced cost and service quality improvement for the enterprise.
  • This hands-on leadership role will be required to drive and lead the engineering and support team, make technical decisions and work closely with cross functional business and IT groups.
  • Develops and implements standards and controls (ITIL) that guide IT engineering, quality assurance and ultimate delivery.
  • Works closely with and manages strategic vendor partner relationships and holds vendors accountable to expected service levels.
  • Responsible for enterprise IT help desk and managing the IT buildouts in support of new center growth.
  • Provides clear direction to achieve goals, creating an environment that fosters team commitment and employee engagement.
  • Hires, recruits and retains superior IT talent that is required to enable and drive future growth.
  • Demonstrates exceptional written and oral communication skills and is capable of communicating to all levels and areas of the enterprise.
  • Creates a work environment in which people are able to perform to the best of their abilities.
  • Proactively improves MedExpress processes, technologies and talent in the help desk and infrastructure / IT operations.

Working Relationships:

Will interact with all employees of the IT department on a regular basis as well as other cross-functional team-members at the Administrative Offices. Will also interact with members of the Senior and Executive Leadership teams.

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience managing and/or directing technology engineering, operations and infrastructure.
  • Experience in strategic technology planning, execution, and policy development.
  • 20 years of technology and infrstructure experience, including telecommunications, networks, servers, desktops, data center operations, software development, media, information security and end-user computing environments.
  • Hands-on, technically sound infrastructure practioner that worked in engineering and/or operations and has direct knowledge of and deep technical experience in architecting and implementing infrastructure solutions and third-party products.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise and application architecture and what is required to design and implement highly available, scalable and maintainable systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems, including Microsoft, Cisco and Dell.
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in related technology field or equivalent experience required, Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • Relevant certifications preferred: ITIL Foundations V3.

Working Conditions:

Non-Center Based. Requires: the ability to sit at a computer for hours at a time (with some bending and stooping), travel to Centers (if so, the noise level is moderate and there is potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens), and ability to lift 50 lbs.
