Salary: Grade 6 ($32.06/hr - $40.14/hr)

Job Description:

We are seeking a Research Coordinator with experience working with children and adolescents (and their families) in a fast-paced research environment. As a Research Coordinator - based in the Population Neuroscience & Developmental Neuroimaging Program at the Bloorview Research Institute - the successful candidate will be required to work alongside an interdisciplinary research team working in the area of population neuroscience of disability. The Research Coordinaor will be responsible for outreach activities, recruitment of participants into large-scale imagaing studies carried out in the new MRI Unit, as we ll as scheduling and assements of participants and database management. Strong critical approaisal skills, effective communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills as well as excellent organization, time management and priority setting skills are critical to the success in this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development of informed consent/assent documents based on regulations, REB consent/assent templates and institutional requirements
  • Submit to REB and assist in coordinating revisions and renewals
  • Recruit families for a study and provide infomration and documentation for potential participants (consents, client eligibility items, required pre-study testing, roadmaps)
  • Assist with database design, in conjunction with Principal Investigator (PI) and Imaging Analyst
  • Assist PI in development and maintenance of standard operating procedures
  • Initiate and maintain research files that will include original consent, documentation, general correspondence, and data collection forms
  • Perform participant interviews, assessments or interventions as required by study protocols
  • Co-supervise (with PI) trainees, volunteers and Research Assistants.
  • Assist PI in new research proposals and preparation of grant applications
  • Contribute to preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts
  • Assist PI with coordination between the program and other research and clinical units at Holland Bloorview

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Preferred Master's degree in a health-related field
  • 3-5 years of previous research experience
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet and MEDLINE searches)
  • Good understanding of TCPS 2
  • Familiar with literature databases (e.g. PubMed, Medline, PsycINFO)
  • Experience following REB-approved protocols and ensuring the timely completion and submission of relevant ethics documentation (initial submissions, amdendment requests, annual renewals)
