LaForce is one of the largest distributors of commercial door opening products, solutions and services in the United States. As a result of continued growth, we have an opportunity for a Shop Coordinator based out of our Austin location. This is an ideal position for an individual with previous Shipping & Receiving Leadership Experience in a warehouse setting.

This position will be responsible for leading the daily activities of our Austin Shop (frame welding, door conversion), and delivery/warehouse planning, organizing and coordinating of available materials and labor resources.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure weekly delivery schedule for all materials required to fulfill orders is being met. Coordinate delivery with customers, LaForce sales, project managers and installation subcontractors.
  • Lead shop and fleet maintenance efforts. Maintain the delivery trucks, installation van, forklifts and all shop equipment. Coordinate vehicle maintenance with the fleet manager.
  • Spearhead safety, quality control and problem solving in day to day shop activities.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all inquiries regarding the Austin shop and manpower.
  • Support and direct departmental activities for safe work methods. Conduct monthly safety meetings using materials provided by the corporate safety director.
  • Monitor and maintain optimum workload level for Austin shop. Communicate with sales staff and Green Bay hollow metal department when workload varies from established standard.
  • Work with LaForce installation project managers and LaForce installers/subcontractors to ensure pre-hardwared doors are completed and shipped in a timely manner.
  • Layout, fit and weld fabricated sheet metal components to assemble structural forms of hollow metal door frames.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of leading and motivating people to work more efficiently
  • Associates degree or equivalent; and/or six months to one-year related experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Strong organizational, time management and attention to detail skills required
  • Strong computer skills required, experience with Microsoft AX is a plus
  • Previous welding & blue-print reading experience is a plus
  • Valid Driver’s License
