Share Email Opening Title 311 Background Investigator  Location Compliance / Regulatory   Description POSITION SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for conducting background investigations, verifying documents, preparing investigative reports and suitability determinations for submission to National Indian Gaming Commission. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts background investigations and compiles personal history statements (background checks) on new and current employees. Preliminarily verifies information on all personal history statements. Assists new applicants in completing applications. Completes thorough investigations (check personal references, previous employment) on all key and management employees, prepares investigative reports and suitability determinations for Compliance Director signature; prepares mailing to National Indian Gaming Commission for their approval on employee licensing. Prepares employee files and maintain the filing system. Submits annual background lists to State of MN. Alcohol/Gambling Enforcement Division for criminal history record information checks on all key and management staff. Processes job applications; maintains updated information on older applications. Licenses new vendors and renews licenses for current vendors. Maintains updated list of employees who operate company vehicles, ensures drivers licenses are up to date. Maintains knowledge of all events in the property as a whole. Attends and/or facilitates all mandatory meetings and training. Maintains confidentiality at all times. Is sensitive to Native American Culture. Operates within the parameters of the Leech Lake Gaming Human Resource Policy, Departmental Policy Manual and all Tribal Internal Controls (TICs), and all other applicable regulations. Secures the assets of Leech Lake Gaming and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. Performs other duties as assigned.   Position Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Understanding of Data Privacy Act Ability to resolve conflicts efficiently and professionally. Must meet State Compact licensing requirements, pass criminal background check, and submit to random drug testing. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequently required to sit for long periods of time. Frequent exposure to tobacco smoke. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs EDUCATION AND SKILLS Education Required: High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency (GED) Experience: One to two years related experience.
